Make sure to change the alias on the exchange general tab if necessary. Such as, your email addresses are assigned as firstinital+lastname and the users first name is changed from Robert Smith to Bob Smith. So his alias was rsmith, and you now want it to be bsmith. If you didn't change it, and people try to type in "bsmith", Exchange isn't going to find a match to resolve it to.
