Just make a copy the file before running ESEUTIL instead of fooling around with command-line switches.

The only /p I know of is used in hard recovery operations. As for the location of the rebuilt db. Any drive with enough space would do the trick. If you use a local drive it would be faster than using a network drive. I try to make sure I have twice the space of the db. Ie if the db is 10GB have 20GB free. I hope this helps.
