Our Exchange 5.5's information store would not start this morning. We moved the MDBDATA and Translogs to a different location and let exchange start up and recreate the folders with a blank Information Store. We now have the MDBDATA and Translogs and would like to mount/repair these on a different server so we can try to recover the data in the Information Store
We installed the same OS/Name (nt 4.0 sp6) on a different server with the same version of Exchange (5.5 sp4). The problem is that how do you give the recovery server the same name and have it on the network ? Exchange notifies us that to be installed we need to have the server connected to a domain. We still have the original server up with a blank Information Store on the network, we just need to bring up a different server to be able to attempt to recover the old information store. How do we get a Exchange Recovery Server up with not effecting the live server that is on the network ?
