While I disagree with their methods, at times, it seems to me that Gates
and Allen are proven examples of the success of capitalism.

And they have both certainly given back.

Error messages are not all that great some times, we are working on
that.

The original issue with the rule limit had to do with the size of an RPC
packet. For performance reasons the Exchange design team needed the
rules to
be able to fit into a single RPC packet. The rules live as a hidden
message
in your inbox. Since then this limitation has been carried forward and
not
addresses, as we focused on other things.

The problem will be addressed and fixed in the next version of Exchange.
Exchange Server "12" will support 64k of rules per-user by default and
be
configurable up to 256k, with a hard coded maximum of 1MB.

If you want to get really tricky you can play with this bit of
information.
The 32k rules limit is applied on a folder basis. So in theory you have
a
32k limit on each folder. I once worked up a horrible tool that worked
with
this, but never made it public.

M$ = whining that profit is bad, in my point of view. Most of my income
over
the last 10 years has come from the support, and design of Microsoft
products. I am not really a fan of biting the hand that feeds me. I will
personally stick with MS as a abbreviation.

"One or more rules could not be uploaded to Exchange server and have
been
deactivated. This could be because some of the parameters are not
supported
or there is insufficient space to store all of your rules."

Above Error Text that comes up. After you dismiss the window, the rules
is
disabled and does not run. One other item to note, These users have a
local
pst that everything gets delivered to.

You can show users, you can teach users, but you can't make users do
what
you want. And on top on that, it's the person who does my review and
sets
my raises and sets my bonus. I have set a bad example of doing too many
miracles with the e-mail system so far. And in their mind, this problem
does not look like a big one.

Here is a M$ vs. Microsoft discussion for you:

That abbreviation is news to me and I work for Microsoft.

I currently have about 35 rules in my personal non work mailbox, and get
well over 3000 messages a day. I have yet to hit the limit on rules. But
I
do make my rules with intelligence; I use as few words as possible in
the
rule body, and make the rules very simple. The rules are named with
single
digits, 0-9 and a-z, and most commonly they just move messages from
people
to folders to help manage traffic and threads.

In addition to message rules I use some of the following methods to
manage
my mailbox:
<>I flag messages that have only me in the TO field with a red flag <>I
flag
messages with a Green flag when they have me and someone else in the TO
field <>I flag messages with a Yellow Flag when I am in the CC field <>I
use
search folders to sort some email by person, or subject <>I change
message
colours for messages that I need to track in a different ways.

Thanks !!!

A user could have an almost unlimited amount of e-mail, but limited to
about
twenty or so rules to manage it.

But pardon me, if that sound sooooooooo short sighted on M$ part.

Can I turn off the Exchange Storage part of the rule saving and go with
local storage of rules? Because a rule that does not save gets disabled
in
Outlook.

Thanks again, Michael
