GOExchange: "Automating the unnecessary" Ed Crowley MCSE+Internet MVP Freelance E-Mail Philosopher Protecting the world from PSTs and Bricked Backups!T
-----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tim Gowen Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 2:03 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: GOExchange vs ESEUTIL etc I've been looking at GOExchange because of the boasts that the manufacturers make about it and the doom scenario they put out. It seems that the product uses ESEUTIL and ISINTEG on a regular basis to keep white-space at bay, amongst other things. But my research of best practice tells me that doing offline database maintenance is not required unless there's a major change, such as the removal of a lot of mailboxes. I haven't ever heard of the performance issues in Exchange that they talk about: unusual behaviour, lost messages, etc unless there's an underlying hardware problem. I've had a 1Gb mailbox removed as a user has left the organisation. I have 1378Mb of free space after online defragmentation, and a priv1.edb of 18,714,024 bytes. Do I need to do an offline defrag or can I let it go? I know that I don't need GoExchange. There are no problems with the system so I'm inclined to leave it alone...
