They had Exchange 5.5 on Win2k DC server. No ADC configured. (Well, it
was installed, but no agreements set).

I exmerged the data out of 5.5, and into their new server, E2k3 SP2 on
Win2k3 (also a DC). Workstations were updated to Outlook 2003 (where
applicable), and pointed at the new server. Other than the previously
mentioned nickname issue, everything is fine. I'll add that they use
POP3 in Outlook, but store the mail in their mailboxes. Not my design,
and they're reluctant to change that.

It looks like KB 836419 might be the issue. It didn't start until I
started connecting users to the new server...

How did you "roll them over"? These kinds of details are usually
important in helping you diagnose your problems.

Subject: event 565 issues

Has anyone seen this before...

I just rolled about 50 people over to a Exchange 2003 SP2 box from
Exchange 5.5. I exmerged the data out of the old server and into the new
server. The only issue that people have reported is an NDR when sending
to an internal user by picking a name from the nickname list. Other than
that, no user has reported any other issues. But, I'm seeing some of
these 565 errors in my security log:
