A differential is supposed to back up only the logs, so apparently
Symantec's software isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Still, I wouldn't do differential backups with Exchange. I always recommend
daily full backups.

Subject: EXHANGE and veritas Backups

Hi everyone, I'm getting a bit stumped here with my backup results.

Windows 2003 running Exchange 2003 and Veritas BE 9.1

The backup folder is an external drive enclosure attached to an XP
workstation. I have specified an exclusion in the symantec AV to not scan
the backup folders (i.e. the drive enclosure)

So I do a FULL backup of the STORE approx 20 gigs

I then run an differential backup and it backs up 20 gigs again.

Am I missing something , I used to do fulls all the time as I would use
tapes, one a day, but the DLT is no more so If I do fulls daily I'll only
get about 10 backups before I run out of space
