When the consultant called Symantec, he was told they were being
spoofed.  Our gateway has been overwhelmed lately, with 3000 or messages
in the slow queue. The messages from the gateway have random subjects
such as:  Toss a series of the Commdor, old? The uh assumed established

In the body it would look like:

The message cannot be delivered to the following address. ---

[EMAIL PROTECTED]    Permanent error involving remote host.
550 5.7.1 Requested action not taken: message refused

We have our gateway to delete rejected messages, but these messages come
through. The beginning of the week, the gateway service would not start
and Symantec said we had to re-install which we did.

can you be more specific?  Our Symantec has always sent warning messages
to users and to Admin (it's a setting you can play with).  I'm not sure
why you consider it a problem.  Are you sure these messages aren't being
spoofed?

Starting last week we started having emails from
Symantec_Mail_Security_for_SMTP come in to users Inbox's.  The
consulting company that helps us, said their other customers are having
the problem too.  Anyone else using Symantec Gateway seeing this?

Also, the spam volume has been terrible lately.
