I can endorse the article, but that was in a straightforward upgrade
from 5.5 to 2k and from NT to AD.  It's not clear what your environment
is and how you're migrating.  Are you in AD? Are you migrating to
Exchange 2003? to Windows Server 2003? or what?
Whatever, be sure to look at the article on removing the first Exchange

What is the best way to uninstall Exchange 5.5 and remove any references
to the old server name?  This is a total 5.5 environment, i.e. there are
