All,

I have an issue where I have an application competing for high ports (1024
and higher) with w3wp.exe, used by OWA. I noticed that this can be changed
by going into Component Services and editing the connection-oriented TCP/IP
ports in the DCOM protocols, to something else. Thus removing the conflict
in ports used by both applications.
My question is what types of risks am I running by making this change?
IS using ports above 5000 a bad idea?
How large of a port pool should be specified?

Thanks as always,
John Q Jr.
