I checked, I am not doing reverse lookup. I am a one-man shop here at
the Museum, it took me awhile to even find what you were pointing out.

I have had the same results with Ninja, it shut my server down twice
before, and they were quick to help me fix it. But this time, as soon as
I engage Ninja, within 10-20 minutes, my processor (dual dual AMDs)
usage runs up to 100%, when it is normally in the 3%-8% range. I have 4
gigs of RAM in that machine, and it does nothing else. So I have to
dis-engage Ninja, and spam (and virii) flows in to anyone not using
cached here with IMF and the Outlook filtration turned on. Through
Terminal Server, for example, or OWA. I like Ninja, but the president of
this museum wants all spam ended. If they don't fix today (we have been
working on a solution for one day shy of a week) I will be forced to
change.

Any suggestions for anti-virus/spam protection? What works now and also
will work with Exchange 07, to be implemented in a couple of months?

Are you doing reverse lookups on incoming msgs? (SMTP Virtual Server
properties > Delivery tab > Advanced) If you are, you should configure
external DNS servers, or it WILL hammer yours.

I'm using Ninja now, and it works OK, but I'm a little disappointed with
all of its bugs. Sunbelt is pretty responsive & fixes most of them
quickly, but it's caused several short outages here, and it still causes
many messages with attachments to timeout and drop. YMMV

Yes, I am using IMF, also Sunbelt Software's Ninja, which has been
acting up lately and I don't know if I will go the Ninja route when I
move up to Exchange '07.

You can do that, but I don't know that it's a good idea.

If your Exchange server is hitting the DNS servers abnormally hard, then
maybe it's doing a lot of NDRs to spam. Do you have an antispam
front-end
such as IMF installed?

Exchange Server '03 on Server '03, no other purposes. Not a domain
controller.

I already have two DNS servers running.

It hits the DNS servers hard all the time.

If I can/should, should I make it primary, secondary, or tertiary?
