By far the best way to accomplish this is to build a new server and move everything to it. It's easily the least risky alternative and if you do it right it involves practically no user downtime. I figure I should ask before I create something ugly. The first server (srvr1) in my organization is running out of disk space on the os partition and is need of a server upgrade. Would the correct way to approach this be, dismounting the databases on srvr1 - remount them to srvr2 while I replace my srvr1 and moving them back when I'm done. I'm really worried about changing and name and IP of srvr1 because EVERYTHING is pointing to that server (mail gateway, intranet, mail enabled apps, etc..) Any insight would be most appreciated. Jack of all trades - Master of none ;) Rob _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
