Glad to see that esteemed name back on the list!

I pretty much agree with you, Martin. What I am doing is evaluating. You, know trying something new, testing, seeing what it gains or loses me.

Yeah, the loss of the attachment icon also struck me as a 'showstopper', but it's good to have it confirmed. I was just trying to see if there might be an easier and more user-friendly way of managing those pesky attachments. This doesn't look like it's the right path, and certainly not this software. [1]

Which BTW goes by the grandiose name of E-Mail Management Server by MADSolutions (Geisel Envisioning International)

[1] not to give the wrong impression -- the software did what it promised to do; good performance; reasonable interface. It's just the side effects that are wanting.

You want to give us a clue what this software is?

Item number 2 is a show stopper IMO. Your users are going to flip out and
rightly so.

I'm also curious what the goal here is. It seems like you are moving stuff
from one storage to another. What's the value here? I'm not seeing it.

Subject: Detaching attachments

I'm evaluating server-based software to remove large attachments from email,

put it in the file system, and replace it with a link. So far so good, but
I have two concerns:

1. When an attachment that appears in more than one mailbox is removed, I
would guess that SIS is lost. And I'm wondering if that would end up taking

up more disk space than before?

2. When attachments are removed, so is the paper clip icon. The user has
no way of knowing which messages have attachments, or be able to sort them
by that field. That could make searches very difficult. Any experiences of

that sort?
