I'm sure you're right -- you always are. Yet I clearly remember that the 'Recover Deleted Items' did not even appear in the menu until the reg hack was run. So I guess the distinction you're making is that the ability to recover from Deleted Items Dumpster was always there, just needed to be nudged to visibility?

DumpsterAlwaysOn has never been required to recover from Deleted Items, just for shift-delete from other folders, and it's been required for all versions
of Outlook that have supported deleted item recovery, unfortunately. I
don't understand why that behavior isn't the default. It's one of those
rare cases where Microsoft doesn't err on the side of data recovery.

Have you checked her rules? Could be a rule is sending messages to a Public
Folder rather then hers.
Of course, you wouldn't forget to check the Views, but since that's
something I would do, I just thought I'd mention it...
I want to emphasize what Ed said: Dumpster works separately on folders
other than Deleted Items. Infact, I believe that starting with 03, you
don't need the Dumpster reg hack to retrieve from Deleted Items -- it's on
by default, but not for the other folders.

Hi all, I have user that claims emails are randomly disappearing from
outlook
(rpc over http outlook 2003)

so I decided to create a new profile here , with her login info, and I
enabled the "recover deleted items" for all folders via the Dumpster reg
hack-

I sent an email, deleted it, and when I go to recover deleted Item , it
comes
up empty-

I then checked message tracking for other messages , she says has
disappeared this past week, and she is correct in that she did indeed
receive messages on 22 feb, but there is nothing in her folders.

How else can I track this, unfortunately she in central America, and Im home
with broken ankle, So I dont have her laptop in front of me.
