After copying the settings did you restart the IMC service?

Subject: Forwarding messages to custom recipient in Exchange 5.5 (Relay
access denied)

Hi,
Recently our primary MSX5.5 server took a turn for the worse, so we
installed IMC on our other 5.5 server (which had all the mailboxes and junk
on it) and after a bit of fiddling, its working OK for inbound and outbound
messages.

After doing this, we got the old server going anyway, but we are trying to
phase it out, so are pressing ahead.

One problem we are having is that internal users on the now primary exchange
server with the active IMC, have a custom recipient set up to forward all
mail to an external mailbox (eg. yahoo).

Internally, if i send an email to a user who has a custom recipient, it goes
to their mailbox and their custom recipient mailbox.

Anyone who sends an email from outside of our company to someone with a
custom recipient, the internal mailbox gets the message, but it never gets
forwarded to the custom recipient. There is sometimes an error returned to
the external sender along the lines of:

To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (custom recipient address)
  Subject: test
  Sent: Mon, 10 Mar 2008 11:14:40 +1100

did not reach the following recipient(s):

[EMAIL PROTECTED] on Mon, 10 Mar 2008 11:06:56 +1100
The recipient name is not recognized
The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=au;a= ;p=exchange
;l=EXCHANGE20803100006G4FTK0AB
    MSEXCH:IMS:COMPANY:DOMAIN:EXCHANGE1 3554 (000B09B6) 554 5.7.1
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Relay access denied

Note that exchange2 is the new mail server with the IMC on it, and exchange1
is the old mail server, which still has an IMC on it.

I have tested custom recipients from various external domains (gmail, yahoo,
hotmail) and the same thing always happens :S

We have copied the settings from the old IMC to the new one, and checked
that the file versions for MSEXCIMC.EXE are the same, but inspite of all
this, we still get the above errors.

We have deleted and recreated the custom recipients, so i am not sure why
its still referring to the old servers IMC.

The message being forwarded from an external recipient does NOT make it to
our tumbleweed box (where all outbound and inbound mail goes), so it is
exchange internally doing something wrong.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
