Was hoping someone could help us out with this one. Every now and then, we
have a problem where anyone trying to send internet bound emails receives an
undeliverable. The problem lasts for a few minutes, then it clears up.
Odd thing is, from the error below, the mail routes through our "higher cost"
server for internet mail and completely bypasses the "lower cost" bridgehead
server that normally sends internet mail to our SMTP gateway.
It should be noted, that although the error indicates that it's a problem with
the recipient's mail server, the mail never leaves the organization.
The NDR that the sender receives is as follows:
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server.
Please contact your system administrator.
<server04 #5.5.0 smtp;550 Cannot relay. Mailbox not available
The only error that we can find in the event log is as follows:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event Category: General
Event ID: 9646
Date: 4/24/2008
Time: 11:02:17 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER04
Description:
Mapi session "b936e9c1-08a5-4ca1-8233-cba87cbaa5e7" exceeded the maximum of 32
objects of type "session".
Any help would be much obliged.
Thanks.
