I dumped that and an object I freshly created to an ldif file to compare, I 
didn't see anything obvious.
Apparently these users were synced with ldif files, so I am awaiting for a 
sample of the scripts. For all
the Work I have done with ldif, I have never seen this...

I'll post back the cause if I resolve it.

You need to look at the entire object. It is obvious that there are issues with

I am trying to enable a mailbox on some users and receiving an error that 
ExternalEmailAddress is mandatory on MailUser. When performing a get-user I see
