James, Thanks for this great information! We implemented 2 minute RPC timeout on all of our CAS servers and all of our issues have been resolved.
Much appreciated, Carl From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Oulman,James F Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2013 4:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Exchange] RE: HLB Persistence Timeouts We experienced something similar when we moved Exchange 2010 to an F5. The problem ended up being network related and not directly a timeout issue but I collected these links in my troubleshooting. http://www.expta.com/2012/06/new-best-practice-for-rpc-timeouts-in.html<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v1/url?u=http://www.expta.com/2012/06/new-best-practice-for-rpc-timeouts-in.html&k=DRaZFQufJSh%2Bz2CJu01vGA%3D%3D%0A&r=ZsWrZFQJbSgm%2BtSz3D0Xv1fdaX7fvx7ZppfikkZzB5A%3D%0A&m=ucy2dn0K33B2o0cPrvdY0vL5EUzo3PqevkZmzTyWOW8%3D%0A&s=8de7dafebb973a6f8dc91cc340806293804d8346c9617da045d0ac9941fcdc05> http://blogs.technet.com/b/messaging_with_communications/archive/2012/06/06/outlook-anywhere-timeout-issue-and-recommendation.aspx<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v1/url?u=http://blogs.technet.com/b/messaging_with_communications/archive/2012/06/06/outlook-anywhere-timeout-issue-and-recommendation.aspx&k=DRaZFQufJSh%2Bz2CJu01vGA%3D%3D%0A&r=ZsWrZFQJbSgm%2BtSz3D0Xv1fdaX7fvx7ZppfikkZzB5A%3D%0A&m=ucy2dn0K33B2o0cPrvdY0vL5EUzo3PqevkZmzTyWOW8%3D%0A&s=d29bbbc099587869d8003af60315244ce7ee0812c3f38a2dc69661733217f02e> http://ilantz.com/2013/01/14/tcpip-keepalive-session-timeout-rpc-timeout-exchange-outlook-and-you/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v1/url?u=http://ilantz.com/2013/01/14/tcpip-keepalive-session-timeout-rpc-timeout-exchange-outlook-and-you/&k=DRaZFQufJSh%2Bz2CJu01vGA%3D%3D%0A&r=ZsWrZFQJbSgm%2BtSz3D0Xv1fdaX7fvx7ZppfikkZzB5A%3D%0A&m=ucy2dn0K33B2o0cPrvdY0vL5EUzo3PqevkZmzTyWOW8%3D%0A&s=1357e47002ad98f52861478703f1a395808807a0ce446b66fe358dfc1e570aee> From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Rimmel, Carl Sent: Tuesday, October 8, 2013 10:29 AM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [Exchange] HLB Persistence Timeouts We have implemented our Exchange 2010 CAS Array behind a Citrix Netscalar HLB solution. We are using Source-IP for our method of persistence across all protocols. We are curious about what people are using in the "real world" for timeout values for each of the protocols, particularly RPC, Outlook Anywhere and Outlook Web Access. Currently our settings are 30 minutes across the board and we are thinking this is too low as we are seeing our Outlook and Outlook Anywhere clients disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again throughout the day.
