It should happen automatically. Certain old versions of android do not handle
it properly, but all Windows Phones and iPhones do, to the best of knowledge;
as well as modern Android.

Thx
If I delete the association, what will the end user have to do to re-enable
their account on the device?
I am assuming that ActiveSync will cease when I delete the association...

It's reporting on the device association, not the account. You'd delete the
device association, not the account on the device.

Subject: [Exchange] ActiveSync displaying old phone number after port

I noticed a few users who had activated ActiveSync on their Android phones,
then they had a number ported to replace the original phone number of their
device.
The old number is still displayed in OWA as ******1234 instead of ******(new
number)
Is this a bad thing?
Is it strictly informational?
Do I need to bother deleting/recreating the account on the device?
Thanks
