John, can you elaborate on what would have been "optimized" that could cause this?

First, on the NIC, turn off the power saving function (allow computer to turn off this device). This causes more issues than anything else that I can think of. Two, change one of the users that is having the problem on a regular bases from CACHED to NON-CHACHED mode. If the problem disappears, check with your network team to see if anyone has recently “optimized” the net. The laptop users are all cached mode, and wired. There has been no report of outlook clients dropping offline, and there are no firewalls between these users and the centralized exchange CAS & Mailbox roles. Once a user identifies they are affected by the issue most have tried to self-help by closing & reopening Outlook, changing folder views, or pressing the Send/Receive All Folders button. Agree regarding the Exchange updates, and actually we just cleared that hurdle and will begin updates as soon as this weekend. Keith D. Cached or Online? Are their Outlook clients dropping offline? Firewall timeouts in that office killing the TCP client connection when idle too long? You should seriously consider updating to the latest service pack (SP3) and rollup (13). Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3 was released May, 2012 and is almost 4 years old at this point. There have been lots of bug fixes during this time, but you’re also 4 years behind on Exchange security updates as a result. Several of these users have been cured by running a process utilizing outlook.exe /cleanuips (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2330226), but others have not been 'cured' by this. Initially all reports appear to be coming from laptop users (we are 30:70 laptops to VDI's). All offices have consistent network links with less 35ms latency.
