I think event sinks should be considered a developer tool (versus a registry
edit). 3rd party utilities will appear more as time goes on adding features
that event sinks are capable of, for example this disclaimer product:

I come from mainframes as well (AS/400) and have got many over the phone
solutions. Unfortunately, they would have been little help to any other
deployment, but our own.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm trying to learn ADSI.
