There's an Outlook add-in that will show users when a read receipt is being
requested in the message list. You can also instruct them to always use the
preview pane.

Subject: Preventing friggin' Read friggin' Rcpt?
Remember, it's Friday:
Notifications
Being sent are a bad thing
how do we stop this?
Now, not in the form of Haiku:
I've had several users ask if we can prevent "read receipt" notifications
from being sent. I know I can turn them off to the internet but what about
between two users on the same exchange box?
Oh, and yes I recognize the better solution is for the first user not to
request them and I further recognize that "there is rarely a good technical
solution to a management problem."

PS. Friggin' included for the pleasure of the friggin' lyris mail server.
