your users don't get a popup that says "[name] has requested a read receipt,
do you want to send one?"

In Outlook 2K with Exchange as the transport I don't think this is an
option. It looks like I can control read receipts _only_ with internet
transports. Now IIRC, XP (Office, not Windows) merges Exchange and internet
transports so maybe it's possible there?

Have the users check the box that says "don't ask me about this again" and
then click on the NO button in the pop-up that asks if they want to send a
read receipt.

Of course, this means they won't EVER get any, but maybe that's ok.

Remember, it's Friday:

Notifications
Being sent are a bad thing
how do we stop this?

Now, not in the form of Haiku:
I've had several users ask if we can prevent "read receipt" notifications
from being sent. I know I can turn them off to the internet but what about
between two users on the same exchange box?

Oh, and yes I recognize the better solution is for the first user not to
request them and I further recognize that "there is rarely a good technical
solution to a management problem."
