I recently upgraded to Backup Exec 8.6 for NT4 and bought the Exchange
Agent. I did a complete backup of the BDC, reformatted the hard drive and
installed NT & BE back onto the box. I then did a full restore and the box
was rebooted.

The only problem I encountered, was that the services for BE and Exchange
failed to start. I traced the problem to the NETLOGON service not being
started. Although unable to start it directly in 'services', it started fine
when I did a re-sync with the SAM from the PDC.

When everything was started we had a full working BDC as was prior to the
backup.

My only concern is that the whole operation for backing up the data seems
far too complex with either BE or ArcServeIT.

Good luck !

Tim

:Why not use Backup Exec WITHOUT the Brick Level plugin.
:
:NTBackup is used by many, many people. It does all you should
:ever need.
