Yes, Exchange and SQL options. I had great success with the NT4 version from
7.3 up to 8.something but since we upgraded the backup server to 2000 we
have had several problems. I cannot trust it, so I want to use NTBackup and
hopefully feel warm and fuzzy again.

Did you buy Backup Exec with the Exchange Plugin?
You can use the version of NTBackup on the server that hosts exchange to
back up the exchange server online.

I have tried it without it. We had a recent Disaster Recovery test off site
at a Sungard facility and we rebuilt the WAN, LAN, Terminal servers, HP box
everything except Exchange. I worked on it for several hours and ... it was
terrible.
Any particulars that I should be aware of? I would like to perform a backup
and do a restore on a test box that we have built to make sure that there is
no problems going to bite us in the future.

Why not use Backup Exec WITHOUT the Brick Level plugin.
NTBackup is used by many, many people. It does all you should ever need.

I am having so many problems with Backup exec, I am disgusted with it.
Is anyone using NT Backup for exchange? Is there anything I should know?
I don't care about the Brick level backup anymore, I just want to know that
I can restore without a bunch of hassels in case of a disaster. Does anyone
have any suggestions for scheduling? I will be using Windows 2000 server and
DLT drive.
Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA
Gordon
