Full backup every night. Its only 12 gig or so. On a decent DLT that would
be about 45 minutes! No reason not to. Maybe supplement it with a full flat
backup once a month if you really need the archival. Given the added
complexity of incrementals and restoring etc I really wouldn't bother with
anything less than full nightly.
I have a similar set up here and I run a full backup every night including
weekends to allow for remote users etc. The tape cycle is 31 tapes and I
keep the last day of each month as a monthly for 2 years. Touch wood I've
never been caught with my pants down.
Happy hunting
Dom.

Subject: Recommendation
Can I have some recommendations on a tape backup procedure?
I have 125 mailboxes with 100M limits on each on a W2k with E2k.
I have plenty of space on my tapes for the IS and Mailboxes etc. I am
using Veritas Netbackup 3.4.1.
My thought was to do a full backup of the Information Store once a week
and keep a month. Then do a full backup of the IS once a month and keep
it for a year.
I was going to do a differential incremental backup on the Mailboxes
daily and do a full each month and keep it for two months.
A good document would be good too, along with some advice.
