Last Saturday the local (Dallas, TX) Vietnam Vets motorcycle club organized the 13th annual Ride to the Wall. This was my first time to participate. The gathering spot was the parking lot of the Ballpark in Arlington (where the Rangers play). By the time we were ready to hit the road we had an estimated 1,000 motorcyles, the vast majority of them Harleys. We had a police escort for the 20-something mile ride - running stop lights, stop signs and even I-30 was shut down. Practically every bike had a flag on it - one had a full-size flag on a very stout pole mounted to the frame (bet it was hell to ride in the wind).
The Wall (for those who don't know) in Washington DC is a listing of all 58,044 people who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The one in Dallas is the same thing but for TX persons.
