Daniel, Exactly...that's what I'm talking about...I think. This has happened several times when people are attempting to send a new mail from Outlook 98/2000/XP to an SMTP addy out on the Internet, i.e. [EMAIL PROTECTED] What looks like is happening, is that the e-mail is using the organization-level IMS connector, instead of the site-level connector. It seems to go from the originator's mail server across our bridgehead to their bridgehead and then out thru their IMS. When that happens, I believe it was an "Error 550 - Relaying Denied" error message that I got.
POP3 and IMAP are not enabled for our clients. Sorry, it's been long enough since it happened and it was a low enough priority that I deleted the NDR months ago. Will someone pass the ketchup? I get the funny feeling that I'm going to wind up eating this answer, due to stupidity. More than likely you'll find the NDR arose from a user in your department trying to relay through their server using POP3/IMAP client (both of which use SMTP to send). The scope you're talking about only deals with who can send _out_ your IMC. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blunt, James H (Jim)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Exchange Discussions" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 4:47 PM Subject: RE: How to hide IMS > Oh crud puppies!!! > > First, let's take into account here that I'm not the one that set up > this Exchange site...I inherited it from the prior administrator. > Second, let's > take into account that I just had TWO molars extracted at the > dentist's and > am on more Advil than I can count.
