I need some assistance in getting our Exchange Server configured for SMTP. I have a few users that want to use Outlook Express instead of Outlook as their email client, which means they need to be able to send mail using SMTP.
So far the only way I have been able to get this to work is to route incoming mail, allowing relaying provided it comes from our internal IP addresses. The problem I have with that scenario is that it appears that when outside users send mail with delivery receipts, the delivery receipts don't go out, and the administrator box gets an message undeliverable email. It appears that it is trying to treat it like an incoming email instead of outoging. Have I set up IMS properly? How do I get rid of the NDR? This is an Exchange 5.5 server, I think SP4. By the way, we use a Linux firewall running IPChains, but I don't think that has anything to do with the problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
