I really think the best way to do this is to set up a second IMS whose
IP address isn't exposed to the outside that POP and IMAP clients use
for outgoing SMTP mail. Assign the address space of "clownpenis.fart"
instead of "*" so outbound messages don't try to use it. Or let
outbound messages go through it if it isn't a problem with your routing
configuration.

Subject: SMTP relay and receipts

I need some assistance in getting our Exchange Server configured for
SMTP. I have a few users that want to use Outlook Express instead of
Outlook as their email client, which means they need to be able to send
mail using SMTP.

So far the only way I have been able to get this to work is to route
incoming mail, allowing relaying provided it comes from our internal IP
addresses.

The problem I have with that scenario is that it appears that when
outside users send mail with delivery receipts, the delivery receipts
don't go out, and the administrator box gets an message undeliverable
email. It appears that it is trying to treat it like an incoming email
instead of outoging.

Have I set up IMS properly? How do I get rid of the NDR? This is an
Exchange 5.5 server, I think SP4. By the way, we use a Linux firewall
running IPChains, but I don't think that has anything to do with the
problem. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
