Which Mac client are you using?

First this is how I set up this client: I used the IP address from server
for outgoing  and incoming mail because that was the only way I could make
it communicate with the Exchange 5.5. There is any other way that you can
set the client on Mac.

You shouldn't need a HOST file.  I sure don't remember setting one up on the
MAC when we bought a new one, and I sure didn't change anything when we
changed IP addresses.

no, but if you changed the IP address of your Exchange server, you'll have
to
change that record on the HOST file on the Mac, I bet...

I use pacbell,s DNS and I don't have any problem with any other pc clients.
Do they have to ad an MX record for this client alone.

Could be A DNS problem. Maybe you need to add an MX record to your DNS

I have exchange 5.5 and recently I had to reinstall the server. I have one
Mac client and I can send e-mail inside my lan or receive mail from
outside my lan but I can not send e-mail outside the lan.
Can anybody help.
