The successful way I've seen to work OL/Eudora together is to essentially
manage mail two places -- i.e., there's no "synchronize" function that I've
heard of.

If the user's Eudora profile is set up to "leave mail on server", then the user
should be able to delete messages from the server one by one -- it's a special
command, not just putting messages in the trashcan.

As far as putting messages in folders, new contacts in addressbooks -- all that
effort must be duplicated.

And since Eudora is completely unrelated to Outlook, it will want to pull down
at least headers (this is configurable) for all the messages in the mailbox the
first time it's run. It should pull over simply the newest headers since the
last login when it's next run.

I use Eudora when I have multiple (personal) desktops and am using POP
everywhere -- I can clean mail off the server after I've scanned it without
sucking all the messages to my secondary/tertiary computer. (Outlook is
primary, of course! :) And Eudora handles "personalities" (reply to this email
as [EMAIL PROTECTED], not my work address), which Outlook 97 or 2000 do not. I
hear Outlook 2002 incorporates the personalities idea; haven't yet looked to
see what other features are included.
