There are a number of possible solutions to address the message class
problem depending on how the users are adding contacts to the folder.

If the user is creating the contact directly in the folder then set the
folder properties so that it only uses your form.

If the user is just dragging and dropping the contact from their own
personal contacts folder then you could either use an event script on the
public folder to change the message class to be that of your standard form
(I believe there is an example on how to do this at www.slipstick.com ,
alternatively you could look at the following knowledge base articles to
cycle through the folder and convert the contents to use your custom form as
and when you feel it is necessary.

Subject: Exchange Contacts - Is there a better way?

When I first setup Exchange one of the benefits is the centralized
Public Contacts. But I did not like the default screen for Contacts
so I created my own form. This form (class?) had all the information
I wanted on the first page. It also had some three separate extra
fields which I used to identify when the address, phone or e-mail was
last updated. One of my biggest complaints with contact databases is
not knowing how recent is the information.

This works fine on the main network but it makes it hard to export or
for user to add their own contacts which have apparently have their
own default class.

Right now everyone despite having a public Contacts folder, everyone
seems to keep their own contacts rather than adding to the company
folder. Now they want to access Contacts with their PDAs

Is their a better way to handle Company Contacts?

Sigh - I remember the days when databases were tables and formats or
views allowed you to look at the database anyway you like.

TIA - TOMG
