Ok... Environment: Exchange 5.5 SP4, Win2000 SP2, non-AD on an NT 4.0 domain.
Currently using the Ed Crowley "Never Restore Method" from the archives: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq_appxb.htm. The only difference currently, is that our Deleted Item Retention time is set for 14 days instead of 30. Problem: User A receives X-number of e-mails between say May 15th and June 30th and replies to all of them. Her replies are kept in the Sent Items of her mailbox. Her mailbox goes over it's limit so that she can't send anymore. She gets frustrated, deletes everything from her Sent Items and empties her Deleted Items. Here is my understanding of the process from this point on. 1. When she empties the Deleted Items in her mailbox, the IS looks at the date of the actual message and if the current date and the date it was created on is greater than 14 days, it logically marks it as deleted, hides it from the client and tombstones it. 2. When I go to the client's mailbox and attempt to recover items from either the Deleted Items or the Sent Items, I get only those items that are 14 days old or less. Question: So...how do I restore a tombstoned item so that it is no longer hidden from the client application? I think the "Q" article below is what I am looking for, but as I am NO programmer, I really have no idea how to implement it. Do I copy and paste the required snippets into a PERL script and run the script under the Exchange Service account privileges or what? HOWTO: Access, Restore, Delete Soft Deleted Item Exchange Server (Q232265) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q232265 (may wrap) XADM: How to View Deleted (Tombstoned) Objects (Q239639) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q239639 This actually looks more like what I need, but after reading it, it seems to be talking about mailboxes and PF's only, not individual mailbox items. Maybe I'm misreading it... TIA for any help you can give...
