I've got an ongoing problem with mail queuing for no apparent reason. Both
servers are running Exchange 5.5 and are connected by an X400. The problem
is with Server A queuing mail destined for server B but never the other way
around. Server A routes all SMTP and Exchange org mail to Server B and
they're in separate sites in the same org. The problem occurs regardless of
e-mail size or other factors such as public folder replication. The two
servers are connected via the Internet with 2 Mb links into both sites. I've
been monitoring all routers, Internet hops, firewalls etc that connect the
two servers but the queues occur even when the Internet and all connected
devices are trouble free. Stopping and starting the IMS often helps but I'd
like to know what the root cause is. Sometimes a queue of mail (averaging 2
Kb a piece) can sit there for hours if I don't intervene. Any ideas??

Regards
Tony
