There are other avenues to take as well (contractor). We use whatever email address
they give us and create mail enabled user accts if they need network access or just
contacts if they don't.

Thanks for your insight though. I've met some characters on newsgroups, and you're
definitely in that category.

Another question for Chris or anyone else that can help. Default mailbox stores when
running Enterprise edition E2K - can they be removed or atleast flagged for the "do
not mount" feature as long as the SA's mailbox is on another store?

I currently take full advantage of the multiple store feature and have users
categorized by location at facilities with their own exchange and alphabetically on my
two main field office mbx servers. Other admins who have been delegated permissions
to manipulate exchange data have a penchant for 'accidentally' putting users on the
wrong store. The fact that I have 11 default mailbox stores that show up in the pull
down when "Exchange Tasking" a user acct doesn't help.

I'll give you my favorite dumbass example of political reasons to use
restricted ABVs.[1]

Executives don't want to be e-mailed by lowly forklift operator, so they
create an ABV where forklift operator can only see other lowly peons, and
their immidiate supervisors in the GAL.. executives get a GAL view where
they can see everyone.

That being said, there are plenty of legitimate reasons one might want to
use restricted ABVs in a corporate environment.. like when contractors are
brought on for a project and need only basic e-mail access, and giving them
access to the entire GAL represents a security risk.

[1] _Thankfully_ this example is not something I was ever forced to
implement for my or any other company, but I know it's been done.

I too have multiple views, but did not think of the hosting angle.
Political forces definitely are a pain in the outbox.

Can't you hide system objects? or are you alluding to something other
than objects that should not be recipients showing up in plain view for
all the world to see.
