Never underestimate a dead horse ;-) Notes/Domino and the other integrating products like SameTime (used by the US Navy because it was the only one 2-3 years back which offered encrypted Instant Messaging with logging etc.) and QuickPlace (which scales way better than Sharepoint and offers other features the major Microsoft competition product is still missing - not to mention that QuickPlace is not a version 1 product) have their market as Groove and Exchange has. And Groove is still suffering from the peer to peer concept to be a no-no for large Enterprises when it comes to security.
Finally, since Notes/Domino has a different focus (to be an application platform) I doubt you will see such things in future versions of Exchange but rather find that new products might ship which integrate such things (like the new Real Time Communication Server by Microsoft will include a new Instant Messaging product based on an Internet standard called SIP).
