It doesn't rewrite the whitespace. William -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Erik Sojka Sent: Wednesday, September 11, 2002 4:40 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: public folder That is true, since the offline defrag process essentially rewrites the database ( A second copy) without the whitespace. It is possible to defrag to a network drive, but it is time consuming. Unless you're running out of diskspace, or are running up against the 16GB limit, leave the Store databases alone and let Exchange manage its own storage. If you defrag and recover that space, the Store will only need to expand again to accommodate future growth. -----Original Message----- From: Tener, Richard [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 5:06 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: public folder I know it is really stupid question but i never did a offline defrag and someone the other day told me that when you do an offline defrag you need the same amount of free disk space on your hd as you have in your database. Is this true, thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Hummert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 5:00 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: public folder Oh no....here comes the flames -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Jason Coleman Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 1:59 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: public folder In order to really recover the space that comes from deleting email, mailboxes, etc. an offline defrag is a must. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The information contained in this email message is privileged and confidential information intended only for the use of the individual or entity to whom it is addressed.
