I had this happen with McAfee GroupShield, especially after an AV update.
The CPU would peg at 100%. A reboot would fix it as would stopping the
AVUpdate service. There was a Microsoft patch that had to be applied and
then McAfee fixed the problem with a patch and then an upgrade to
GroupShield.

Subject: RE: Store.exe at 99-100% CPU on 5.5 SP4

Well, I'm back up now after a restart (as in shutdown/restart) but before I
did that I tried to stop the store service (which wanted to bring down IMC
and Event) but these two wouldn't stop (ended up in "stoping" status) so
store didn't start to stop.

Then I killed IMC and events.exe and then tried to stop store, no joy.

Then I tried to stop NAV and it wouldn't end (service didn't respond in a
timely manner)

Then I said screw it and I did a shutdown/restart.

Sorry for not including this earlier.

Try stopping it and see what happens.

Ooops, should have mentioned. NAV 2.12 in MAPI/VAPI mode.

OK, I just had to restart my exchange box because of a 100% store.exe. The
memory was ~800Meg, but it's a 1Gig machine doing nothing else but exchange.

I don't see anything in the event log indicating an error (at least it
applied the 4 log files, thank god for logging <G>).

I haven't found any on-topic KB articles. I see one on post-sp4 store.exe
fixes (282533) but none of the specific fixes seem on topic.

Any suggestions on where to begin the search for the problem?
