The service account is only needed to run things like the Active
Directory Connector and Site Replication Service that actually connect
to the old system. When you're done with Exchange 5.5, you no longer
need such things.

Subject: Migration from 5.5 to 2000 questions

Hello All,

our organisation is soon to be migrating from Exchange 5.5 on NT4 to
Exchange 2000. My colleague is a member of the project team and is in
charge of the Exchange migration. She has a couple of questions which I
hope you may be able to assist us with.

It is intended that there will be a new W2K domain with a 2 way trust to
the old NT4 domain in place, the users will be migrated with SID history
to the new domain using the ADMT kit. In the lab environment she is
finding that when installing a new exchange 2000 site to the old
exchange org, it is requiring that the old exchange service account
password be entered to add it to the administrative group. Is she right
to be worried that this will be a problem when the old domain is
removed? Any suggested alternatives? If we should we create a new
Exchange Organisation and use Exmerge, are there any solutions to solve
the problems of clients who open additional mailboxes, and delegate
permissions etc?

I hope these questions make some sense! :)

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide,

-Glyn
