IMAP and DAV and LDAP, with tighter integration and logic. IMAP over SSL can also (and should also) be specified. This isn't intended to be outlook for the mac, there was one of those and it's dead. This and likely future versions of Outlook for Windows are going to be evolutions in terms of what mail connectivity looks like from a client/server standpoint.[1]
