Some observations: I now get 550Mb/min using BackupExec 8.6 against Exchange 2K (store backup, not BLB) - perhaps the limiting factor is the 100MBit net card.
The Exchange server has 16Gb of stores on a PIII 600 with 768Mb RAM and Raid 1 data disks. The backup server is a PIII 450. When we were using single-drive DLT, I was lucky to get 200Mb/min, even with decent drivers. We changed to using removeable disks as backup media (basically using disks as tapes) and the speeds shot up although the rest of the setup remained the same.
