I have seen an empty Application log recently too. It was on a server
that got hacked.

Subject: Event Log Issue

I have a W2K server, fully patched, Exchange 5.5 fully patched, acting
as a
bridgehead server. This server has been running for over 3 years without
any
issues. Within the last 2 weeks, when I check the application log, it
will
not display. The log has reached it's size limit, but is set to
overwrite as
needed. The other logs, Security and System are fine. This might not be
Exchange realted, but has any seen this before?

I have tried decreasing the log size, increasing the log size, Overwrite

events older than ..., etc. nothing seems to help.

Only this server, out of 7, and only in the last 2 weeks ... might this
be
'worm/blaster' related?
