Hi all,
I am in the middle of an upgrade to windows 2000 server from an NT 4.0
domain. I plan to run in mixed mode then install exchange 2000, before
transfering the mail over from 5.5, here's what i have so far. Sorry if
its a bit newbie.

I have 1 NT 4 server (sp6) running Exchange 5.5 (sp4) acting as the PDC.

I have purchased 1 new server and have installed NT 4(sp6) and added it to
the domain as a BDC and sychronised the 2 machines.

I now plan to reverse the roles and make the the old PDC with Exchange on
it the BDC and the new one the PDC. I was then planning to insert the
windows 2000 server CD in the new PDC and do an in place upgrade.

My problem is, the current domain name is BSI and there actual registered
domain is BSImerch.com, which is what i would like to use ( i inherited it
this way)
If i upgrade the new box to 2k and name the domain as i would like, i'm
not quite sure how things are going to go. I really can't afford for their
mail server to go down :(

I was thinking that i should re-name the domain on NT 4 first. Also,
should
i have a second BDC standing by or is an inplace a straight forward job?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

David
