Are you really suggesting that the government would start regulating the industry - right down to our level? You're a US citizen, right? What the hell kind of political revolution are you anticipating over there? I cannot envisage a US government imposing micro-managerial regulation of that sort on any industry that wasn't directly responsible for public money or lives, let alone one of the areas in which it is a world leader. If you were to regulate the industry which would you want to see eliminated first, experts in a particular product being acknowledged by the supplier of that product for their work helping the user community of that product or blithering idiots spreading all sorts of misinformation out of sheer ignorance? If a government was to regulate the on-line support community I think it is far more likely that MVP programmes would be mandatory than forbidden.
