Not the same.

How much to keep offline = only how big your OST gets, for those periods when
you're offline from exchange and still need to get into outlook items (like
when on a plane)

Online archive = a feature set at exchange level where you build a new DB and
set tags/policies to put things away in an exchange-based system that is still
subject to your backups/etc and is still exposed to the users.

We use online archive to tuck things away on cheap storage, and to keep
mailboxes clean (everything older than 1yr goes into archive)

Subject: [Exchange] Archiving on 2013?

Hi all,

Just deployed outlook 2013 and realized that we can choose how much "mail to
keep offline", now that this is available, what if any reason would anyone
have to use Exchange online archive?

Doesn't the "mail to keep offline" feature not serve the same functionality?
