I can move the online archive off the physical server? can it be any storage (i.e a a cheap nas) or does it have to iSCSI or SAN type?
Also can it be done on 2010,, I have a client that's running 2010 and they are non profit so a SAN is out of the question, but a QNAP or Synology is within reason. thx From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [Exchange] Archiving on 2013? How much to keep offline = only how big your OST gets, for those periods when you’re offline from exchange and still need to get into outlook items (like when on a plane) Online archive = a feature set at exchange level where you build a new DB and set tags/policies to put things away in an exchange-based system that is still subject to your backups/etc and is still exposed to the users. We use online archive to tuck things away on cheap storage, and to keep mailboxes clean (everything older than 1yr goes into archive) From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of J- P Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2015 4:42 PM To: Exchange List <[email protected]> Subject: [Exchange] Archiving on 2013? Hi all, Just deployed outlook 2013 and realized that we can choose how much "mail to keep offline", now that this is available, what if any reason would anyone have to use Exchange online archive? Doesn't the "mail to keep offline" feature not serve the same functionality?
