1. Open the .ost using Outlook as if you are working offline.
2. Add a .pst to the Outlook profile.
3. Drag and drop the contents of your .ost to your .pst.
4. Re-config Outlook to not use the .ost, (Uncheck "enable offline access").
5. Connect to Exchange server and import your .pst to your Exchange mailbox.
Last part is to pay homage to the MS gods for creating .ost files.

Subject: how do i extract data from an ost file?
one of our admins has nuked the mailbox of a user who was doing .ost
replication.
he re-created the mailbox....but since the user was using an ost..it simply
tried to replicate an
empty mailbox to the ost.
i have a pre-new mailbox copy of the ost available.
any guidance at extracting the data from the ost ?
