with good reason. Planning is so important. Try searching the AD for
your server's name. Imagine one of those not taking during any rename
process.
To
rename, I would migrate Exchange to a new aptly name server and do so with a
name you don't intend on changing again.

migrated all my mailboxes over to W2K a server running Exchange server
2000. It came from a NT 4 server running Exchange 5.5. When I
renamed my new 2k sever all he-- broke loose. Is there a way to change a
W2k server running exchange to a new name?
