: ) Don't let that scare you. I have used that method 4 times over the
years when servers have rolled off of lease. Worked like a champ every
time.

Yea, just ignore the big "This is not a supported method of moving users and
data" part of the article.

Ed's method is the best, simplest and recommended way IMO. You are doing
yourself and your users a great disservice otherwise.

Yea, all have been helpful in one way or another. I appreciate all comment,
well almost all! ;) I have not begun to actually move the server, but I
have tried a few test runs, just to see what would happen, or to give me an
opportunity to play with some steps in the process that I didn't clearly
understand.

Ok then Nick, I'll ask again - did the other responses help at all, or would
you like to share the problems you're having with the move server method? No
response = addition of your address to my kill file :-)

Thank you Michael, that's what I was trying to say, but I was a little
miffed from the comment. So it didn't come as well as your explanation did.

Thanks

But they don't have to say things like "If you're too stupid to follow the
free pointer you've been given, then change careers". Saying "Try this link;
if that doesn't work, then you might be better off paying for a consultant,
if you can, since it might be too complex for a mailing list to solve" says
all the same things, in (pretty much) the same amount of space, without
denigrating anyone's intelligence. Trust me, my first instinct is also to go
the "What, are you too stupid to follow simple directions?" route. But it's
still wrong, instinct or no, and hopefully I (and others) can restrain it.
